We are pleased to share the successful outcomes of the Scientific Day of the Lebanese Society of Internal Medicine 2024, held on September 7, 2024 at Le Cedrus Hotel, Arz- Lebanon.
The event, titled “Cedars Roots in Medicine,” provided a comprehensive look at addressing diseases from their roots through a holistic patient approach. The highlight of the day was an enlightening presentation by Dr. Tony El Murr, President of the Lebanese Society of Internal Medicine, on “PCR Panels in Infectious Diseases Diagnosis: New ERA of Syndromic Approach.”
Dr. El Murr discussed the significant advantages of PCR/Biofire panels over traditional culture methods. The focus was on the Pneumonia Plus and Blood Culture BCID 2 Panels, which represent a leap forward in diagnostic precision and efficiency.
The session also highlighted the cost-effectiveness of Biofire diagnostics. Dr. El Murr emphasized how these tools contribute to enhanced Diagnostic and Antimicrobial Stewardship programs, leading to optimized therapeutic outcomes and a reduction in Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
We extend our gratitude to all participants and speakers for their valuable contribution and participation in advancing the field of internal medicine.
